Well, I'm glad you asked.

To start, I'll introduce myself. My name is Alex Kunze and I am a 23 year old designer seeking full-time employment in the field. I am madly in love with design (even though sometimes we don't get along). I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil. Yada yada yada, whatever. You don't need my life story. What you do need to know is I just love making art and creating anything I can dream up–and I'd like to think that I'm pretty good at it. I'm one of the lucky few people who knew exactly what they wanted to do for their entire life, and I want to drive that passion into any business that's willing to take me in.

You might be wondering why this portfolio opens with the phrase above the Gates to Hell in Dante's Inferno. Maybe it's because I believe my brain is my own personal Hell–or sort of a backwards version of Hell. Layers of tortured and labored ideas manifest and then are one day cast out into the world to determine their own outcome. A little dramatic, but what's life without some theatrics? Maybe I chose the phrase because I see myself as Dante, an observer navigating through my own thoughts and feelings. Maybe I just chose it because I think it sounds cool. Great ideas have certainly originated from a thought simpler than that. As long as the idea intrigues someone enough to scroll down, I’ve achieved something. I cherish what is meaningful to me and my creative endeavors will never lose that personal touch, but what other minds construct and take away is what truly makes them come alive.

Design is my way to connect with the world. It is both my virtue and my vice. And I’m willing to do anything to prove it’s what I’m meant to do. I want to learn from the best around me and connect with a team that shares my passion.
